Why Visit the History Center This Summer?

The Andover Center for History and Culture is launching a series of captivating walking tours, all leading up to a special celebration honoring the 200th anniversary of Marquis de Lafayette’s 1825 return to the United States.

Featured Summer Events at the History Center

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s happening this season:

  • Saturday, June 7 at 3 PMUpper Central Street Tour

  • Sunday, June 22 at 1 PMBallardvale Village Tour

The main event of the season is the Lafayette Bicentennial Celebration, taking place on Saturday, June 21 at 10 AM. Though Marquis de Lafayette did not visit Andover during his 1825 American tour, the Center is commemorating the occasion by exploring local Revolutionary War ties and honoring the town’s forgotten patriots.

The Lafayette Celebration will feature:

  • Living history performances

  • Revolutionary War reenactments

  • Family-friendly activities

  • A special ceremony honoring local Revolutionary War veterans

Tour themes will range from “Revolutionary Andover” to “Historic Main Street,” with select programs tailored for younger audiences.
